She's here!!!

Audrey June arrived on lucky Friday the 13th at 8:40pm. She weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz. and was 21 3/4 inches long. Thanks to Carolyn and Stephanie for the photos. I haven't taken the time to download ours yet. We are so grateful to have our sweet, healthy baby girl!

Still here folks...

A friend of mine sent this excerpt from Anita Diamant's, The Red Tent. I read this quite a while ago and loved it. She sent it out to our entire mom group and I couldn't help but think what appropriate timing it was to receive this.

"Just as there is no warning for childbirth, there is no preparation for the sight of a first child. I studied his face, fingers, the fold in the boneless little legs, the whorls of his ears, the tiny nipples on his chest. I held my breath as he sighed, laughed when he yawned, wondered at his grasp on my thumb. I could not get my fill of looking.

There should be a song for women to sing at this moment, or a prayer to recite. But perhaps there is none because there are no words strong enough to name that moment. Like every mother since the first mother, I was overcome and bereft, exalted and ravaged. I had crossed over from girlhood. I beheld myself as an infant in my mother's arms, and caught a glimpse of my own death. I wept without knowing whether I rejoiced or mourned. My mothers and their mothers were with me as I held my baby."

Pregnancy Update

Almost there, folks! Grandma Novie says the baby is coming around the 6th, when the moon changes. We'll see! I've been having contractions off and on for over a week now and feeling pretty tired. There's still some stuff to get done around here and of course I've been running around with the kids doing fun activities like swimming, soccer class, blueberry picking, park dates. I LOVE THE SUMMER!!! Thanks goodness I have summer babies so I can get outside. We've also been trying to have some rest time in the afternoon. This mama needs it. I usually try to run the kids ragged in the morning and then come home to nap. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. When the stars align, it is glorious! I haven't had contractions like this before and I was pretty anxious when they first started. I've been faked out! I am staying close to home just in case. We'll keep you updated. Until she comes I'm trying to enjoy these last movements of her inside of me. I am getting anxious to meet her and to be able to bend over and put my clothes on without it feeling like exercise! :)
